Global money transfers and multi-currency accounts
About
Founded in 2011 in London by Kristo Kaarmann and Taavet Hinrikus, Wise (formerly TransferWise) provides low-cost international money transfers and multi-currency accounts for consumers and businesses globally. The platform moves money across 160+ countries using its own payment network rather than the correspondent banking system, enabling transfers at the mid-market exchange rate with transparent fees. In fiscal year 2025, Wise served 15.6 million active customers, up 21% year-over-year, and generated 1.21 billion GBP in revenue. The Wise Business account enables companies to hold, send, and receive in 40+ currencies with multi-user access and integrations to accounting tools. Wise listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2021 and has been profitable for four consecutive years.
